Jockey Jan Memorial Fund

Groups that have and that are to benefit from the Jockey Jan Memorial Fund

During her upbringing Jan was, at one time or another, involved in the following organisations: - Lunanhead Playgroup, Chapelpark Primary School, Forfar Academy, Arbroath Athletics Club, the Joyce Cromar School of Dancing, Forfar Falcons, Angus Pony Club, Riding for the Disabled, Pathhead Stables, Brechin Equestrian Centre, Conchie’s Riding School at Barry, the Young Farmers’ Club Forfar Angus and Scottish, the Young Curlers, Aberlemno Curling Club, the Angus Show, the Kirriemuir Show, golf lesson's at Kirriemuir and a member of Forfar Golf Club.

Many of these local organisations played a part in Jan’s life in Angus at one time or another or she new people in these groups and hopefully our fund can help some of the groups to continue to play a part and prosper in the community.

 

 

The Rider aged 14-15 years who accumulates the most points will be presented with the Jan Wilson Memorial Award perpetual trophy at the end of the season with their prize also including personalised racing breeches, boots and saddle supplied by Gibsons Saddlers and PH Kingsley Ltd., both companies that supported Jan when she was a jockey.  Media training will also be offered together with personal tuition at the Northern Racing College.

Angus Sports Council and Angus Council Sports Development Team handed over £572 raised through the raffle at the Forfar Ceremony. Secretary Colin Knight said “given Jan’s involvement with several local sporting groups we felt that the Jockey Jan Memorial Fund was a very appropriate cause for the proceeds of our raffle this year.”MW accepts the donation from S.D. officer Laura Ross and A.S.C. secretary Colin Knight

  On Sunday 14th March a Bonspiel between Aberlemno and friends and Forfar Young Curlers a very close game with 2 games up and 2 games down. Aberlemno just came out on top by 3 shots a good time by all. Curling Group
  Apprentice Paul Pickard who is the first recipient of the Kyne - Wilson Scholarship £4000.00 which was presented by Beverley Racecourse. In the picture is manager Sally Iggulden. In February I was at the Catterick and Richmond R D A and Bedale R D A session and gave them a cheque each for £250.00

  Imperial Sword Trophy presented to Kate Richards of Arbroath and District Athletic Club for the Most Consistent Middle Distance Athlete with friends of Jan in the picture also on 13th of November. They also got a cheque for £250.00 and bought a new computer with it.
  Amy and Dusty The J J M F donated this trophy which was modeled to look like Jan, to Kelly Harrison the best Lady Apprentice
  Freddie Tylicki being presented with the the Jan Wilson and Jamie Kyne Apprentice Championship 2009 Trophy named after Jan and Jamie. Hayley Turner who helped in the bucket collection and Dean Heslop and Edward Kingsley good freinds of Jan in all they all helped to raise £15 thousand pounds for R W.
